Shiite Islam Part 4

You can listen to part 4 here.

In response to part 4, what propelled Iraq's Shiite majority toward "higher levels or religous identification..."?

One of the reasons that the Iraq’s Shiites started to take their religion more seriously was because of all the violence that had happened. In times of turmoil people find comfort through religion.

I think that the Shiite majority after Hussein has become more open with their religion because they now feel that they have more religious freedom at this time unlike when Hussein was the president. Also, Iran has a larger influence on Iraq's Shiite population now rather than before.

in 2003 the shi'i muslims became very secular, they either ignorantly or conviently forgot recent history which has the effect of pushing the shi'i away from secularism and caused them to move toward high levels of religious identification.

Is this because of the U.S. getting involved in 2003 that made this all happen? This is very confusing and the mosque being bombed last year too?

One thing really made Iraq's Shiite population want religious identification was the invasion of Iraq.

The Muslims is Iraq ignored Iraq's violent and tragic history. They especially ignored the ambitiousness of Iraq's Shiite majority. These Muslims had the effect of pushing the Iraqi Shiites away from secularism. That led to higher levels of religious idenification.
