Extra Credit Assignment!

I don't usually give extra credit, but here's an idea. Go back to my Social Studies page on my website: http://www.amityregion5.org/tnorton/Socialstudiespage.htm and read the quote on that page. What does it mean to you. Respond in a comment to this blog!

What we are talking about in school now we will be part of the goverment in the future. That is why school is so important to pay attention in school now so you know what goes on later.

I think politics are going to suffer. I think that the world is getting messier and people just don't care anymore. It is going to be up to this generation of people to make a difference.

I think it means if you are in school now, 50 years in the future you will be part of the government. This emphasizes the fact that you should take your school education seriously!!!!

I think that that quote by Abraham Linkoln means that you should remember and use the knowlege you learn in school because you will need it thorought your life. I think that the quote means that the philosophy you use in a school room, and the rules you follow should be followed even when you arent in school. If the government had people who did this the government would make better choices and the people would be happier. Now if EVERYONE did this, the world would be a better place. Instead of having a lot of crime in the world, there would be very little, and generally, the people would be happier. Many more people would volounteer for public service, and everyone would be happy because they would get something out of it. But once the people stop following these rules, the world will stop bing a beautifull happy place and return to being the world we see now.

I think this blog means that we are the next generation and we are the future of America and whatever philosophy we have now will stick with us and if any of us make it into the government our philosophys now will go into play in the future. So whatever our views on the world are now might be the views of the world the president expresses when our generation becomes of age. So we are the future of the government and the world.

we learn many facts in school. but these are just facts. these facts will lead us to develop or views, our opinions, or bias, our rights and wroongs and such. so what we are learing no will eventually lead to being our views. we will use these views in our every day life. and we will use these views in ways dirrectly connected to government. like when we vote and when we take a stand for what we believe in. this facts will supplement our choices for the rest of our lives. and we are going to use these choices to either help our country succeed or fail. we are the future....

I think that this quote means we, as students are looking up to all the people with political power, like George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, etc, and that some day one or more of us will have that political power. Then other students look up to whomever is in tat political power. So the cycle just keeps going, going, going, until the apocalypse. Or maybe someday the government is no more.

I think that this quote is saying that everybody starts in a classroom, all the great, high people in government have. Then in the future, those people become the government, the president, the vice, part of the senate, and so on and so forth. What we learn now will effect us in the future. What we learn and how we interpret it is what really counts when we get older.

What I think that this quote means is that the information that we are learning now will be used in the future. When we will all grow up and it will be our turn to govern, we have to know what is going on around us and make good choices. If we know about history and what bad choices other rulers made, we can learn from their mistakes and make better decisions for our country, for example.

Also, what I think that Abraham Lincoln ment by stating this quote was that the future of our country depends on the education of this generation. It is important to maintain a high level of education in school now for it will impact the citizens of the country later on. While competing with businesses from other countries, the U.S. would stand higher if the one in charge of it would have a good understanding and knowledge of the economy, government, history, law, etc.

I think that in this quote Abraham Lincoln is trying to say that we should take our education seriously. Someday we could be representing our country so we should learn what we learn now because in the future it will come up. Now is the time for us to learn as much as we could so that in about 40 to 50 years we could maybe be using this for our country.

I believe that this quote means that the students of today will carry their knowledge and ideas througout their lives. It says that the children of today will become the people of the U.S.A. and the people of the government in the future. The government will always be changed by the ideas of the people. Also, what we are learning now will help to build who we are in the future. Therefore, what we are learning now is exceptionally significant. The government depends on the people. The people depend on their ideas and knowledge. The ideas and knowledge come from the influences in childhood.

I think that this quote is saying that when the current leaders of the world retire or quit it is up to the new set of aspiring leaders, former students, to step up to the plate and make a difference in the world. Their views on the world will have come from their classroom, from their teachers. One discussion in class could change the world and inspire you to look at the world in a different way, and you can later inspire others. In the future, others may be the government who could adapt your views. And that could change the world.
